I always get told, wow you must have a really nice camera…lol…but the truth is being a photographer is more than the equipment you own…

I’m a simple photographer…anyone who knows me, knows I don’t believe its the goodies that make the photographer, it’s the talent, technique, and style.

To start, my camera bag is an old mini hard drive camcorder bag, just large enough to hold what I need. I have a canon 7D body, with the kit lens…yes I said the kit lens, I never broke down and bought another one because it has served me well, I have created amazing imagery with it, and actually really like it. Just like any photography equipment you just have to know how to use it, and know what it’s best used for. On occasion I’ll rent out other lenses that fit a specific job, for example I love using a 50 for wedding receptions (seeing as they often take place indoors and it has an aperture of 1.4) and even for newborn portraits because of the amazing DOF effects 🙂 Next I have a sunpak pro flash, nothing fancy, does it’s job, and I know how to use it. I have a 5 in 1 reflector (which i love) for really nice fill light, I have a simple tripod (that I rarely use lol, to restricted), 2 batteries so that I can charge one while using the other, 3  8 gig kingston memory cards, a few lens wipes, and some extra batteries… That about covers it. See like I said I’m a simple photographer, fancy gadgets are nice, but not necessary, to be honest (aside from the inability to control the settings) I could do what I need with a cell phone if I needed to, because I know composition, how to use light, and how to get a response out of my clients, and there isn’t any camera in the world that can do that for you 🙂 Not going to say that I don’t love my canon though 😉 The quality is amazing…and it doesn’t hurt that I know my camera like the back of my hand (yes I know that’s a cliche comment!)
